INTAS Strategic Scientific Workshop:
Development of perspective applications of Human-Computer Interaction for Information Society

The Workshop will be organized as part of the 9-th International Conference “Speech and Computer” SPECOM'2004.


Organizers:
INTAS Strategic Scientific Workshop is organized by INTAS together with the Saint-Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPIIRAS) and sponsored by INTAS.


Objectives:
The Great Challenge of INTAS Strategic Scientific Workshop is to assemble scientists, research, industrial and funding organization to develop the strategic actions, which will help improve the scientific co-operation activities in the area of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Information Technologies. The Workshop is focused on bringing together scientists and research administrations from New Independent States of the former Soviet Union and European countries. This event will be the real opportunity to know more about current research activities in HCI area in NIS and Europe and constitute the long term links between research centers. This Workshop will help to the scientific organizations to find the contacts and partners from NIS for future International Joint Projects and other research activities.
The official representatives and science administrators of European Commission, International funding organizations (INTAS, Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Russian Ministry of Science and Technology, International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), Saint-Petersburg Scientific Center of the Russian academy of sciences, etc.) will be involved in the Workshop.


Form of the Workshop organization:
The Workshop will consist of several scientific sessions with oral lectures and presentations, problematic round tables with experts and interested persons, meetings partners on current and supposed joint projects, and organized free discussions. During the Workshop both purely scientific questions and ones connected with organizational possibilities for cooperation between NIS and Europe will be discussed.

Scientific topics of the Workshop are: The Strategic Topics of the Workshop, connected with the problems of cooperation between NIS and Europe, are following: The lectures according to these topics will be given by official representatives and scientific administrators from EC, INTAS and other international funding organizations.

All participants of the 9-th International Conference “Speech and Computer” SPECOM’2004 may participate in INTAS Strategic Scientific Workshop without additional fees.


Paper submission:
The papers describing scientific results, research and developments, which are conducting (or fulfilled) according to INTAS funded Projects, will be accepted for the Workshop. All papers will be published in the Proceedings of SPECOM’2004.

Hotel accommodation:
All participants will be provided with comfortable rooms in Hotel. The conference hall for the INTAS Strategic Scientific Workshop and Conference SPECOM'2004 will be located at the same Hotel.


Cultural program:
Possibilities for acquaintance with historical valuables of Saint-Petersburg (tour of the city, museums, galleries, etc.) and cultural program (visiting theatres, concerts, etc.) will be provided in weekend before the Workshop and all other days.
